POCUS for Airway Management
Stephen Alerhand MD is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He completed both his Emergency Medicine Residency and Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Since then, he created the Emergency Ultrasound Division at Rutgers and serves as its Fellowship Director. Dr. Alerhand has been bestowed with local and national awards in ultrasound education, most recently the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine - Rising Star in Ultrasound Education Award. He has published 40+ peer-reviewed studies, reviews, and book chapters in emergency ultrasound as well as in critical care echocardiography, a subspecialty in which he is boarded by the National Board of Echocardiography. Dr. Alerhand also operates the US Probes section for the EMdocs.net FOAM website that receives up to 9,000 views per day. Nationally, Dr. Alerhand serves as Co-Chair of the American College of Emergency Physicians - Resident Ultrasound Education Committee. In Israel, he helped direct the Critical Care Ultrasound Workshop for the Israeli Association of Emergency Medicine annual conference in 2018 and 2019 -

Dr. Marvin Wayne Following graduation from medical school at the University of Michigan, Dr. Wayne received a fellowship at St. Bartholomew's Hospital in London, England. After the fellowship, he had a surgical residency at the University of Colorado. This was followed by the United States Army and a trip to the People s Republic of Vietnam where he served as a combat surgeon. He achieved the rank of major and received a bronze star for valor for removing a live grenade from a soldier. Following the military, he completed a fellowship year in surgery in Seattle, Washington. He left the field of surgery to enter the evolving field of emergency medicine. He became the Medical Program Director for the emergency medical services system for Bellingham, Washington State and Whatcom County and has served in that capacity for the last 48 years. He was an attending in the Emergency Department at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center Bellingham, WA. He is an Associate Clinical Professor, Dept. of Emergency Medicine, at the University of Washington. He pioneered post cardiac arrest therapeutic temperature management in a community hospital setting in 2006 . He has authored over 100 articles and peer reviewed papers in the field of Emergency Medicine and EMS. This includes papers in the Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, Annals of Emergency Medicine, and Prehospital Emergency Care. -

Advances in Toxicology’ by Professor George Braitberg
Professor George Braitberg has been a practicing emergency physician and toxicologist for 35 years. He is currently Head of the Emergency Medicine Stream for the Centre for Critical Care Medicine at the University of Melbourne and Executive Director of Strategy, Quality and Improvement at Melbourne Health He is also a Fellow of the American College of Medical Toxicology, the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM), and the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators. He has a Masters in Bioethics and Health Services Management (Monash University) and is a member of the Victorian Clinical Council, a Board member of St Johns Ambulance (Victoria), and Medical Advisor to Ambulance Victoria. His research interests include toxicology, ethical decision making, health system redesign, and the management of acute emergencies. He has published over 70 peer reviewed papers and authored more than 20 book chapters. He was awarded the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine Service Award in 2018 and became a member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2018 and an Officer of the Order of St John (OStJ) in 2019. He is a proud grandfather of 5+. -

Professor Sergey Motov Professor Motov is an Emergency Medicine Physician practicing in the Department of EmergencyMedicine at Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn, New York where he is the Research Director in the Department of Emergency Medicine, Chair of the Hospital Pain Management Committee, and Chair of the Institutional Review Board. Dr. Motov previously served as the Assistant Residency Director and Associate Research Director in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Maimonides Medical Center where he has trained more than 200 residents. Dr. Motov has been very passionate about safe and effective pain management in the ED. His true interests are geared towards perfecting the role of non-opioid analgesia in the ED and more refined and judicious opioid use in the ED. He has published multiple peer-reviewed papers and has conducted multiple presentations on regional, national, and international levels about opioid alternatives for ED pain management. Dr. Motov has been active as a speaker for AAEM at Scientific Assembly as well as for multiple international conferences including MEMC where he has been serving as a Chair of the Pain Track. Dr. Motov is actively involved in growing this body of work both nationally and globally and currently serves as a co-Chair of the Pain and Procedural Sedation Interest Group at AAEM.
